Pig Iron

According to Worldsteel, in Jan-Dec 2024 steelmaking countries of the world had produced 1391.49 Mt of the pig iron, of which 1265.92 Mt by BFs and 125.57 Mt as DRI. This is 1.31% less than in Jan-Dec 2023 (1409.92 Mt).

The first place belongs to China, steelmakers of which in Jan-Dec 2024 had produced 851.74 Mt that is lower than in Jan-Dec 2023 (871.79 Mt) on 2.30%. The share of the Chinese pig iron in the world production in Jan-Dec 2024 is 61.2%.

Ukraine (7.09 Mt or 118.10% to Jan-Dec 2023) remains on 13^th position among 40 world pig iron producers.

Steel

The steel world production in Jan-Dec 2024 is 1839.45 Mt that is on 0.91% less than in Jan-Dec 2023 (1856.26 Mt).

China is a leader of the world steel production as well – Chinese steelmakers had produced 1005.09 Mt that is less than their steel production of Jan-Dec 2023 (1022.47 Mt) on 1.70%. The share of China in the world steel production is 54.6%.

Ukraine (7.58 Mt or 121.64% to Jan-Dec 2023) remains on 20^th position among 71 world steel producers.
