Metal Products Production and Consumption for 10 months 2021 in Ukraine
According to Association UKRMETALURGPROM, for 10 months of 2021 Ukrainian steelmakers had produced 15.99 Mt of metal products (105.4% to the same period of 2020), of which according to V.S.K.GROUP, it was exported up to 12,63 Mt or 79.0%. For the same period of 2020, the share of export was 82.9% (12.58 Mt with the total metal products production up to 15.17 Mt).
The semi-products’ share in the total export for 10 months 2021 was 46.17% that is lower than within Jan-Oct of 2020 (51.03%). The share of flat products for 10 months 2021 is noticeably higher than for the same period of 2020 (37.86% and 32.08% respectively). The share of long products for 10 months of 2021 is lower than for the same period of 2020 (15.98% in 2021 and 16.88% in 2020).
The total domestic demand for metal products within 10 months 2021 is 4323.7 Kt, of which 969.7 Kt or 22.43% had been imported. For the same period of 2020, the domestic consumption was 3620.7 Kt of which 1027.7 Kt or 26.10% were imported. Therefore, for 10 months of 2021 the domestic demand for metal products had increased on 19.42% comparatively to the same period of 2020, but the import component share had decreased on 5.96%.
The peculiarity of the metal products import structure for 10 months 2021 is a significant domination of flat products over long products (54.66% and 42.28% respectively); in Jan-Oct 2020, the domination of flat products over long products almost the same as in 2021 (56.38% and 42.44% respectively).
Main markets for the Ukrainian steel products, according to V.S.K.GROUP, for Jan-Oct of 2021 are EU-27 (36.5%), other Europe (20.1%) and NAFTA (9.7%).
Among main steel importers for 10 months 2021, the first position belongs to CIS (35.4%), second to Asia (21.6%), third – to EU-27 (20.5%).
