Ukraine in the World Ferrous Production in Jan-Aug 2020
Pig Iron
According to Worldsteel, for 8 months of 2020 steelmaking countries of the world had produced 911.97 Mt of the pig iron, of which 857.01 Mt by BFs and 54.96 Mt as DRI. This is 3.09% lower to the analogue period of 2019 (941.08 Mt).
The first place belongs to China, steelmakers of which in Jan-Aug 2020 had produced 589.40 Mt that exceeds the same period of 2019 (570.05 Mt) on 3.40%. The share of the Chinese pig iron in the world production for Jan-Aug 2020 is 64.6%.
Positions of other leading countries are same as before.
Ukraine (13.55 Mt or 98.8% to Jan-Aug 2019) occupies the 9th position among 40 pig iron producers.
The decrease of the global pig iron production is stipulated, first of all, by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Steel
The steel world production in Jan-Aug 2020 is 1187.81 Mt that is of 4.20% lower than for Jan-Aug 2019 (1239.94 Mt).
China is a leader of the world steel production as well – Chinese steelmakers had produced 688.89 Mt that exceeds their steel production of the same period of 2019 (664.58 Mt) on 3.66%. The share of China in the world steel production is 58.0%.
Positions of other leading countries are same as before.
Ukraine (13.68 Mt or 93.4% to Jan-Aug 2019) occupies 13th position among 62 world steel producers.
The decrease of the global steel production is stipulated, first of all, by the COVID-19 pandemic.
