Pig Iron

According to Worldsteel, in Jan-Oct 2022 steelmaking countries of the world had produced 1168.10 Mt of the pig iron, of which 1076.21 Mt by BFs and 91.89 Mt as DRI. This is 2.90% less than in Jan-Oct 2021 (1202.95 Mt).

The first place belongs to China, steelmakers of which in Jan-Oct 2022 had produced 726.89 Mt that is less than in Jan-Oct 2021 (672.92 Mt) on 1.20%. The share of the Chinese pig iron in the world production in Jan-Oct 2022 is 62.2%.

Ukraine (5.81 Mt or 32.78% to Jan-Oct 2021) occupies the 16th position among 40 world pig iron producers.

Steel

The steel world production in Jan-Oct 2022 is 1552.67 Mt that is of 3.85% lower than in Jan-Oct 2021 (1614.89 Mt).

China is a leader of the world steel production as well – Chinese steelmakers had produced 860.57 Mt that is less than their steel production of Jan-Oct 2021 (879.93 Mt) on 2.20%. The share of China in the world steel production is 55.4%.

Ukraine (5.84 Mt or 32.64% to Jan-Oct 2021) occupies 23th position among 64 world steel producers.
