Pig Iron

According to Worldsteel, in Jan-June 2026 steelmaking countries of the world had produced 689.02 Mt of the pig iron, of which 627.20 Mt by BFs and 61.82 Mt as DRI. This is 1.85% less than in Jan-June 2025 (702.02 Mt).

The first place belongs to China, steelmakers of which in Jan-June 2026 had produced 426.64 Mt that is lower than in Jan-June 2025 (438.93 Mt) on 2.80%. The share of the Chinese pig iron in the world production in Jan-June 2026 is 61.9%.

Ukraine (3.66 Mt or 99.78% to Jan-June 2025) remains on 13^th position among 40 world pig iron producers.

Steel

The steel world production in Jan-June 2026 is 931.50 Mt that is of 0.68% less than in Jan-June 2025 (937.92 Mt).

China is a leader of the world steel production as well – Chinese steelmakers had produced 499.95 Mt that is lower than their steel production of Jan-June 2025 (515.41 Mt) on 3.00%. The share of China in the world steel production is 53.7%.

Ukraine (3.57 or 96.84% to Jan-June 2025) remains on 23^rd position among 71 world steel producers.
