Steel Products Production and Consumption in Ukraine in Jan-July 2026
According to Association UKRMETALURGPROM, in Jan-July of 2026 Ukrainian steelmakers had produced 3322 Kt of metal products (91.7% to the same period of 2025), of which according to the State Customs Service of Ukraine, it was exported 2076 Kt or 62.5%. For the same period of 2025, the share of export was 60.2% (2182 Kt with the total metal products production up to 3622 Kt).
The semi-products’ share in the total export in Jan-July 2026 was 42.858% that is higher to Jan-July 2025 (32.58%). The share of flat products in Jan-July 2026 is less a bit to 2025 (43.74% and 44.55% respectively). The share of long products in Jan-July 2026 is lower significantly to the same period of 2025 (13.68% in 2026 and 22.87% in 2025).
The peculiarity of the metal products import structure in Jan-July 2026 is a noticeable domination of flat products over long products (66.59% and 26.94% respectively); in Jan-July 2025, the domination of flat products over long products was much more significant (74.77% and 20.19% respectively).
The total domestic demand for metal products in Jan-July 2026 is 2309.0 Kt, of which 1063.0 Kt or 46.06% had been imported. For the same period of 2025, the domestic consumption was 2302.7 Kt of which 862.7 Kt or 37.46% were imported. Therefore, in Jan-July 2026 the domestic demand for metal products had increased on 0.27% comparatively to the same period of 2025, and the import component share had increased on 8.58%.
Main markets for the Ukrainian steel products, according to the State Customs Service of Ukraine, in Jan-July 2026 are EU-27 (81.9%), other Europe (9.6%) and CIS (6.5%).
Among main steel importers in Jan-July 2026, the first position belongs to other Europe (49.8%), second to Asia (25.5%), third – to EU-27 (16.0%).
