Steel Products Production and Consumption in Ukraine in Jan-June 2026
According to Association UKRMETALURGPROM, in Jan-June of 2026 Ukrainian steelmakers had produced 2940 Kt of metal products (95.8% to the same period of 2025), of which according to the State Customs Service of Ukraine, it was exported 1811 Kt or 61.6%. For the same period of 2025, the share of export was 60.2% (1848 Kt with the total metal products production up to 3070 Kt).
The semi-products’ share in the total export in Jan-June 2026 was 42.85% that is higher to Jan-June 2025 (30.90%). The share of flat products in Jan-June 2026 is less a bit to 2025 (43.90% and 46.81% respectively). The share of long products in Jan-June 2026 is lower significantly to the same period of 2025 (13.35% in 2026 and 22.29% in 2025).
The peculiarity of the metal products import structure in Jan-June 2026 is a noticeable domination of flat products over long products (64.38% and 27.99% respectively); in Jan-June 2025, the domination of flat products over long products was much more significant (77.30% and 20.96% respectively).
The total domestic demand for metal products in Jan-June 2026 is 2009.3 Kt, of which 880.3 Kt or 43.81% had been imported. For the same period of 2025, the domestic consumption was 1938.7 Kt of which 716.7 Kt or 36.97% were imported. Therefore, in Jan-June 2026 the domestic demand for metal products had increased on 3.64% comparatively to the same period of 2025, and the import component share had increased on 6.84%.
Main markets for the Ukrainian steel products, according to the State Customs Service of Ukraine, in Jan-June 2026 are EU-27 (80.0%), other Europe (10.6%) and CIS (7.0%).
Among main steel importers in Jan-June 2026, the first position belongs to other Europe (48.5%), second to Asia (25.8%), third – to EU-27 (16.4%).
