Metal Products Production and Consumption in Ukraine in Jan-Apr 2026
According to Association UKRMETALURGPROM, in Jan-Apr of 2026 Ukrainian steelmakers had produced 1802 Kt of metal products (90.9% to the same period of 2025), of which according to the State Customs Service of Ukraine, it was exported 1121 Kt or 62.2%. For the same period of 2025, the share of export was 62.3% (1234 Kt with the total metal products production up to 1982 Kt).
The semi-products’ share in the total export in Jan-Apr 2026 was 39.25% that is higher to Jan-Apr 2025 (32.06%). The share of flat products in Jan-Apr 2026 is much higher than in 2025 (51.29% and 44.89% respectively). The share of long products in Jan-Apr 2026 is lower significantly to the same period of 2025 (9.46% in 2026 and 19.04% in 2025).
The peculiarity of the metal products import structure in Jan-Apr 2026 is a noticeable domination of flat products over long products (61.99% and 25.38% respectively); in Jan-Apr 2025, the domination of flat products over long products was much more significant (78.86% and 19.12% respectively).
The total domestic demand for metal products in Jan-Apr 2026 is 1187.4 Kt, of which 506.4 Kt or 42.65% had been imported. For the same period of 2025, the domestic consumption was 1198.9 Kt of which 450.9 Kt or 37.61% were imported. Therefore, in Jan-Apr 2026 the domestic demand for metal products had reduced on 0.96% comparatively to the same period of 2025, but the import component share had increased on 4.95%.
Main markets for the Ukrainian steel products, according to the State Customs Service of Ukraine, in Jan-Apr 2026 are EU-27 (80.2%), other Europe (10.9%) and CIS (6.3%).
Among main steel importers in Jan-Apr 2026, the first position belongs to other Europe (50.4%), second to Asia (20.4%), third – to EU-27 (17.5%).
