The Results of the Mining & Metallurgical Complex of Ukraine Activity for 2 months 2020
In Jan-Feb 2020, mining and steelmaking enterprises of Ukraine produced:
- Iron Ore Concentrate – 10.55 Mt (103.4% to Jan-Feb 2019);
- Agglomerate – 5.14 Mt (99.7%);
- Pellets – 3.42 Mt (93.5%);
- Coke – 1.60 Mt (94.1%);
- Pig Iron – 3.36 Mt (99.3%);
- Steel – 3.55 Mt (100.4%);
- Finished Products – 3.14 Mt (104.6%);
- Pipes&Tubes – 141.0 Kt (83.6%).
As of 17 March 2020, the following main production facilities are in operation: 17 of 21 Blast Furnaces, 6 of 8 OHFs, 11 of 16 BOFs, 6 of 15 EAFs and 15 of 16 concast machines.
The Provision of Enterprises with Main Raw and Energy Resources
Iron Ore Raw Materials (IORM)
In Jan-Feb 2020, enterprises were supplied with 4.8 Mt of IORM (101% to Jan-Feb 2019).
The IORM export in Jan-Feb 2020 was around 6.8 Mt (105% to Jan-Feb 2019).
Coking Coals
In Jan-Feb 2020, Ukrainian coking plants received 2.01 Mt of coking coals (86% to the same period of 2019), of which:
- 70 Mt of the Ukrainian origin (153% to Jan-Feb 2019);
- 31 Mt of imported (70% to Jan-Feb 2019).
The import share in the total coking coals delivery in Jan-Feb 2020 is 65.2% against 80.0% in Jan-Feb 2019.
The Metallurgical Coke
The total coke delivery to steelmaking enterprises in Jan-Feb 2020 is 1.34 Mt (87% to Jan-Feb 2019), all is of the Ukrainian origin.
The import share in the total coke delivery in Jan-Feb 2020 is 0% against 7.0% in Jan-Feb 2019.
The Bought Steel Scrap
In Jan-Feb 2020, 397 Kt of steel scrap (112% to Jan-Feb 2019) were collected, all were delivered to the Ukrainian consumers. There was no steel scrap export in Jan-Feb 2020.
The Natural Gas and Electricity
In Jan-Feb 2020, the national steelmaking industry had consumed up to 310 million cubic meters of the natural gas (100% to Jan-Feb 2019).
The electricity consuming by Ukrainian steelmaking enterprises in Jan-Feb 2020 is up to 1.83 billion kWh (95% to Jan-Feb 2019).
