According to UKRMETALURGPROM data, in Jan-June 2020, steelmaking enterprises of Ukraine produced:

• Agglomerate – 15.74 Mt (99.6% to the same period of 2019);
• Coke – 4.81 Mt (92.7%);
• Pig Iron – 9.98 Mt (97.4%);
• Steel – 10.10 Mt (92.4%);
• Finished Products – 9.03 Mt (95.3%);
• Pipes&Tubes – 0.41 Mt (70.6%).

As of 10 July 2020, the following main production facilities are in operation: 18 of 21 Blast Furnaces, 6 of 8 OHFs, 14 of 16 BOFs, 5 of 15 EAFs and 15 of 17 concast machines.

The Provision of Enterprises with Main Raw and Energy Resources

Iron Ore Raw Materials (IORM)

Taking into consideration the low production of metal products, the provision of steelmaking enterprises with IORM in Jan_June 2020 was on the level matching the steelmakers’ demands. There was no import of IORM within this period.

The IORM export in Jan-June 2020 was around 23.15 Mt (117% to Jan-June 2019).

Coking Coals

For 6 months 2020, Ukrainian coking plants received 6.51 Mt of coking coals (92% to the same period of 2019), of which:

• 79 Mt of the Ukrainian origin (131% to the same period of 2019);
• 72 Mt of imported (83% to the same period of 2019).

The import share in the total coking coals delivery in Jan-June 2020 is 72.5% against 80.6% in Jan-June 2019.

The Metallurgical Coke

The total coke delivery to steelmaking enterprises in Jan-June 2020 is 4.01 Mt (85% to the same period of 2019),

of which:

• 99 Mt of the Ukrainian origin (91% to the same period of 2019);
• 0,015 Mt of imported (5% to the same period of 2019).

The import share in the total coke delivery for 6 months 2020 is 0.4% against 6.7% in Jan-June 2019.

The Bought Steel Scrap

For 6 months 2020, 1325 Kt of steel scrap (77% to Jan-June 2019) were collected, of which 1308 Kt (77.5% to the same period of 2019) had been delivered to the Ukrainian consumers. It was exported 17 Kt of steel scrap in Jan-June 2020 (46% to the same period of 2019).

The Natural Gas and Electricity

For 6 months 2020, the national steelmaking industry had consumed up to 910 million cubic meters of the natural gas (102% to the same period of 2019).

The electricity consuming by Ukrainian steelmaking enterprises in Jan-June 2020 is up to 5.5 billion kWh (94% to the same period of 2019).
