Pig Iron

According to Worldsteel, in Jan-June 2025 steelmaking countries of the world had produced 698.60 Mt of the pig iron, of which 634.36 Mt by BFs and 64.24 Mt as DRI. This is 0.80% less than in Jan-June 2024 (704.23 Mt).

The first place belongs to China, steelmakers of which in Jan-June 2025 had produced 434.68 Mt that is lower than in Jan-June 2024 (438.19 Mt) on 0.8%. The share of the Chinese pig iron in the world production in Jan-June 2024 is 62.2%.

Ukraine (3.67 Mt or 105.82% to Jan-June 2024) remains raised from 14^th to 13^th position among 40 world pig iron producers.

Steel

The steel world production in Jan-June 2025 is 934.29 Mt that is of 2.21% less than in Jan-June 2024 (955.40 Mt).

China is a leader of the world steel production as well – Chinese steelmakers had produced 514.83 Mt that is lower than their steel production of Jan-June 2024 (530.75 Mt) on 3.00%. The share of China in the world steel production is 55.1%.

Ukraine (3.68 or 95.06% to Jan-June 2024) shifted up from 22^nd to 21^st position among 71 world steel producers.
