Pig Iron

According to Worldsteel, in Jan-May 2021 steelmaking countries of the world had produced 613.53 Mt of the pig iron, of which 570.67 Mt by BFs and 42.86 Mt as DRI. This is 7.97% higher to Jan-May 2020 (568.25 Mt).

The first place belongs to China, steelmakers of which in Jan-May 2021 had produced 379.90 Mt that exceeds Jan-May 2020 (360.44 Mt) on 5.40%. The share of the Chinese pig iron in the world production in Jan-May 2021 is 61.9%.

Ukraine (8.90 Mt or 109.1% to Jan-May 2021) occupies the 10^th position among 38 pig iron producers.

Steel

The steel world production in Jan-May 2021 is 837.47 Mt that is of 14.52% higher than in Jan-May 2020 (731.27 Mt).

China is a leader of the world steel production as well – Chinese steelmakers had produced 473.10 Mt that exceeds their steel production of Jan-May 2020 (415.36 Mt) on 15.60%. The share of China in the world steel production is 56.5%.

Ukraine (8.99 Mt or 108.4% to Jan-May 2020) occupies 13^th position among 64 world steel producers.
