Pig Iron

According to Worldsteel, in January 2024 steelmaking countries of the world had produced 112.33 Mt of the pig iron, of which 102.67 Mt by BFs and 9.66 Mt as DRI. This is 0.14% more than in January 2023 (112.18 Mt).

The first place belongs to China, steelmakers of which in January 2024 had produced 67.29 Mt that is lower than in January 2023 (69.42 Mt) on 3.07%. The share of the Chinese pig iron in the world production in January 2024 is 59.9%.

Ukraine (0.56 Mt or 144.49% to January 2023) occupies 16^th position among 40 world pig iron producers.

Steel

The steel world production in January 2024 is 148.11 Mt that is of 1.64% less than in January 2023 (150.56 Mt).

China is a leader of the world steel production as well – Chinese steelmakers had produced 77.24 Mt that is lower than their steel production of January 2023 (82.99 Mt) on 6.93%. The share of China in the world steel production is 52.2%.

Ukraine (0.54 or 191.62% to January 2023) occupies 23^rd position among 71 world steel producers.
