Metal Products Production and Consumption for 2 months 2021 in Ukraine
According to Association UKRMETALURGPROM, for 2 months of 2021 Ukrainian steelmakers had produced 3.15 Mt of metal products (100.3% to the same period of 2020), of which according to V.S.K.GROUP, it was exported up to 2,49 Mt or 79.2%. For same period of 2020, the share of export was 84.7% (2.66 Mt with the total metal products production up to 3.14 Mt).
The semi-products’ share in the total export for 2 months 2021 was 48.84% that is lower than within Jan-Feb of 2020 (50.34%). The share of flat products for 2 months 2021 is noticeably higher than for the same period of 2020 (35.97% and 30.55% respectively). The share of long products in 2021 is noticeably lower than for the same period of 2020 (15.20% in 2021 and 19.11% in 2020).
The total domestic demand for metal products within 2 months 2021 is 766.0 Kt, of which 110.0 Kt or 14.4% had been imported. For the same period of 2020, the domestic consumption was 645.3 Kt of which 163.3 Kt or 25.3% were imported. Therefore, for 2 months 2021 the domestic demand for metal products had increased on 18.7% comparatively to the same period of 2020, but the import component share had decreased on 10.95%.
The peculiarity of the metal products import structure for 2 months 2021 is a significant domination of flat products over long products (54.55% and 42.82% respectively); in Jan-Feb 2020, on the contrary, it was a noticeable domination of long products over flat products (54.87% and 42.56% respectively).
Main markets of the Ukrainian steel products, according to V.S.K.GROUP, for Jan-Feb of 2021 are EU-27 (29.9%), other Europe (23.5%) and Middle East (9.9%)
Among main steel importers for 2 months 2021, the first position belongs to CIS (53.3%), second to EU-27 (24.9%), third – to Asia (11.6%).
