Pig Iron

According to Worldsteel, in January 2022 steelmaking countries of the world had produced 115.56 Mt of the pig iron, of which 107.01 Mt by BFs and 8.55 Mt as DRI. This is 6.41% lower to January 2020 (123.47 Mt).

The first place belongs to China, steelmakers of which in January 2022 had produced 68.60 Mt that is less than in January 2021 (76.06 Mt) on 9.81%. The share of the Chinese pig iron in the world production in January 2022 is 59.4%.

Ukraine (1.79 Mt or 98.2% to January 2021) occupies the 10^th position among 38 world pig iron producers.

Steel

The steel world production in January 2022 is 155.03 Mt that is of 6.10% lower than in January 2021 (165.10 Mt).

China is a leader of the world steel production as well – Chinese steelmakers had produced 81.69 Mt that is less than their steel production of January 2021 (91.94 Mt) on 11.q6%. The share of China in the world steel production is 52.7%.

Ukraine (1.85 Mt or 100.7% to January 2021) occupies 13^th position among 64 world steel producers.
