Ukraine in the World Ferrous Production in Jan-Apr 2026
Pig Iron
According to Worldsteel, in Jan-Apr 2026 steelmaking countries of the world had produced 453.35 Mt of the pig iron, of which 416.11 Mt by BFs and 37.24 Mt as DRI. This is 1.67% less than in Jan-Apr 2025 (465.81 Mt).
The first place belongs to China, steelmakers of which in Jan-Apr 2026 had produced 282.28 Mt that is lower than in Jan-Apr 2025 (291.31 Mt) on 3.10%. The share of the Chinese pig iron in the world production in Jan-Apr 2026 is 62.3%.
Ukraine (2.36 Mt or 99.72% to Jan-Apr 2025) shifted down from 13th to 14th position among 40 world pig iron producers.
Steel
The steel world production in Jan-Apr 2026 is 613.32 Mt that is of 2.03% less than in Jan-Apr 2025 (626.05 Mt).
China is a leader of the world steel production as well – Chinese steelmakers had produced 331.12 Mt that is lower than their steel production of Jan-Apr 2025 (343.28 Mt) on 4.10%. The share of China in the world steel production is 54.0%.
Ukraine (2.25 or 92.48% to Jan-Apr 2025) remains on 23rd position among 71 world steel producers.
