Pig Iron

According to Worldsteel, in Jan-Aug 2023 steelmaking countries of the world had produced 958.24 Mt of the pig iron, of which 880.77 Mt by BFs and 77.47 Mt as DRI. This is 2.21% more than in Jan-Aug 2022 (937.54 Mt).

The first place belongs to China, steelmakers of which in Jan-Aug 2023 had produced 603.59 Mt that is more than in Jan-Aug 2022 (582.05 Mt) on 3.50%. The share of the Chinese pig iron in the world production in Jan-Aug 2023 is 63.0%.

Ukraine (3.91 Mt or 75.87% to Jan-Aug 2022) occupies 16^th position among 40 world pig iron producers.

Steel

The steel world production in Jan-Aug 2023 is 1256.38 Mt that is of 0.21% more than in Jan-Aug 2022 (1253.79 Mt).

China is a leader of the world steel production as well – Chinese steelmakers had produced 712.93 Mt that is higher than their steel production of Jan-Aug 2022 (694.86 Mt) on 2.60%. The share of China in the world steel production is 56.7%.

Ukraine (4.03 Mt or 77.75% to Jan-Aug 2022) raised from 25^th to 24^th position among 64 world steel producers.
