Ukraine in the World Ferrous Production in Jan-Dec 2020

Pig Iron
According to Worldsteel, for 12 months of 2020 steelmaking countries of the world had produced 1385.94 Mt of the pig iron, of which 1299.35 Mt by BFs and 86.59 Mt as DRI. This is 0.93% lower to the same period of 2019 (1399.00 Mt).
The first place belongs to China, steelmakers of which in Jan-Dec 2020 had produced 887.52 Mt that exceeds the same period of 2019 (851.26 Mt) on 4.26%. The share of the Chinese pig iron in the world production for Jan-Dec 2020 is 64.0%.
Ukraine (20.42 Mt or 101.8% to Jan-Dec 2019) occupies the 9th position among 40 pig iron producers.
The decrease of the global pig iron production is stipulated, first of all, by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Steel
The steel world production in Jan-Dec 2020 is 1829.14 Mt that is of 0.93% lower than for Jan-Dec 2019 (1846.39 Mt).
China is a leader of the world steel production as well – Chinese steelmakers had produced 1053.00 Mt that exceeds their steel production of the same period of 2019 (1001.31 Mt) on 5.16%. The share of China in the world steel production is 57.6%.
Ukraine (20.62 Mt or 98.9% to Jan-Dec 2019) occupies 11th position among 62 world steel producers.
The decrease of the global steel production is stipulated, first of all, by the COVID-19 pandemic.
