Pig Iron

According to Worldsteel, in Jan-Mar 2025 steelmaking countries of the world had produced 340.04 Mt of the pig iron, of which 311.63 Mt by BFs and 24.41 Mt as DRI. This is 1.95% less than in Jan-Mar 2025 (346.80 Mt).

The first place belongs to China, steelmakers of which in Jan-Mar 2026 had produced 210.98 Mt that is lower than in Jan-Mar 2025 (217.28 Mt) on 2.90%. The share of the Chinese pig iron in the world production in Jan-Mar 2026 is 62.0%.

Ukraine (1.80 Mt or 105.85% to Jan-Mar 2025) raised up from 15^th to 13^th position among 40 world pig iron producers.

Steel

The steel world production in Jan-Mar 2026 is 459.16 Mt that is of 2.28% less than in Jan-Mar 2025 (469.87 Mt).

China is a leader of the world steel production as well – Chinese steelmakers had produced 247.55 Mt that is lower than their steel production of Jan-Mar 2025 (259.49 Mt) on 4.60%. The share of China in the world steel production is 53.9%.

Ukraine (1.73 or 99.72% to Jan-Mar 2025) raised up from 24^th to 23^rd position among 71 world steel producers.
