Metal Products Production and Consumption in Ukraine in Jan-March 2026
According to Association UKRMETALURGPROM, in Jan-March of 2026 Ukrainian steelmakers had produced 1341 Kt of metal products (93.4% to the same period of 2025), of which according to the State Customs Service of Ukraine, it was exported 820 Kt or 61.1%. For the same period of 2025, the share of export was 63.3% (908 Kt with the total metal products production up to 1435 Kt).
The semi-products’ share in the total export in Jan-March 2026 was 39.51% that is higher to Jan-March 2025 (32.93%). The share of flat products in Jan-March 2026 is higher as weel than in 2025 (51.95% and 47.69% respectively). The share of long products in Jan-March 2026 is lower significantly to the same period of 2025 (8.54% in 2026 and 19.38% in 2025).
The peculiarity of the metal products import structure in Jan-March 2026 is a noticeable domination of flat products over long products (62.95% and 26.04% respectively); in Jan-March 2025, the domination of flat products over long products was much more significant (79.80% and 18.03% respectively).
The total domestic demand for metal products in Jan-March 2026 is 892.4 Kt, of which 371.4 Kt or 41.61% had been imported. For the same period of 2025, the domestic consumption was 863.4 Kt of which 336.1 Kt or 38.93% were imported. Therefore, in Jan-March 2026 the domestic demand for metal products had increased on 3.42% comparatively to the same period of 2025, but the import component share had increased on 2.68%.
Main markets for the Ukrainian steel products, according to the State Customs Service of Ukraine, in Jan-March 2026 are EU-27 (77.9%), other Europe (12.5%) and CIS (6.1%).
Among main steel importers in Jan-March 2026, the first position belongs to other Europe (49.7%), second to Asia (22.0%), third – to EU-27 (18.2%).
