Pig Iron

According to Worldsteel, in Jan-Aug 2022 steelmaking countries of the world had produced 938.52 Mt of the pig iron, of which 865.16 Mt by BFs and 73.36 Mt as DRI. This is 4.40% less than in Jan-Aug 2021 (981.70 Mt).

The first place belongs to China, steelmakers of which in Jan-Aug 2022 had produced 582.17 Mt that is less than in Jan-Aug 2021 (607.06 Mt) on 4.10%. The share of the Chinese pig iron in the world production in Jan-Aug 2022 is 62.0%.

Ukraine (5.16 Mt or 35.56% to Jan-Aug 2021) occupies the 14th position among 40 world pig iron producers.

Steel

The steel world production in Jan-Aug 2022 is 1253.89 Mt that is of 5.15% lower than in Jan-Aug 2021 (1321.97 Mt).

China is a leader of the world steel production as well – Chinese steelmakers had produced 693.15 Mt that is less than their steel production of Jan-Aug 2021 (735.05 Mt) on 5.70%. The share of China in the world steel production is 55.3%.

Ukraine (5.19 Mt or 35.55% to Jan-Aug 2021) occupies 23th position among 64 world steel producers.
