Ukraine in the World Ferrous Production in Jan-Feb 2026
Pig Iron
According to Worldsteel, in Jan-Feb 2025 steelmaking countries of the world had produced 222.75 Mt of the pig iron, of which 203.66 Mt by BFs and 19.09 Mt as DRI. This is 1.18% less than in Jan-Feb 2025 (225.40 Mt).
The first place belongs to China, steelmakers of which in Jan-Feb 2026 had produced 137.70 Mt that is lower than in Jan-Feb 2025 (141.52 Mt) on 2.70%. The share of the Chinese pig iron in the world production in Jan-Feb 2026 is 61.8%.
Ukraine (1.01 Mt or 88.82% to Jan-Feb 2025) shifted down from 14th to 15th position among 40 world pig iron producers.
Steel
The steel world production in Jan-Feb 2026 is 298.21 Mt that is of 1.46% less than in Jan-Feb 2025 (302.63 Mt).
China is a leader of the world steel production as well – Chinese steelmakers had produced 160.34 Mt that is lower than their steel production of Jan-Feb 2025 (166.33 Mt) on 3.60%. The share of China in the world steel production is 53.8%.
Ukraine (1.03 or 86.77% to Jan-Feb 2025) shifted up from 25th to 24th position among 71 world steel producers.
